We were approached by an independent counselling service to create a brand new, responsive website to support the expanding business. It was important for the website to project an air of calm, as well as communicating, detailed but not overwhelming information about the nature of the services offered. These were technical, evidence based, medical treatments that had to conveyed in a manner that showed their benefit to an audience without specialist training.
From the start, we had take into account the unique combination of physical and talking therapies offered by the client. The truly holistic approach required a broad understanding of the services and how interconnected the are in implementation.
Our content first approach required that we dive in and develop a nuanced understanding of the specialist therapies that the client offered. We had to learn how and why they worked, in order to create accurate, engaging copy. This also added another level of complexity as the approach to therapy, treating both the body and mind, meant we had to carefully link up the relevant service pages in a way that enabled visitors to educate themselves on the wide range of treatments.
We settled on a simple, ‘flat’ design with a muted colour palette. The design was chosen to reflect the service’s unique, tranquil setting. The site was designed to deliver critical information as quickly and efficiently as possible while highlighting the broad range of applications of the treatments. By utilising the latest coding optimisations we built a reliable site that loads quickly, and by thinking carefully about which information the end user would see first we were able to deliver information about key elements of the service at a glance – making the site both broadly accessible and also informative.
