The challenge

Landscapes is a family company established in 1995. Their team bring with them a broad range of collective skills, experience and a wealth of knowledge, specialising in estate and garden renovation. The team managed the 60 acre grounds at Prescott Hill climb for over 6 years for the Bugatti Owners Club and gained valuable experience in maintaining grounds open to the public. They have also been instrumental in the renovation of the gardens and lawns at Hilles House over the last 16 years. They have worked on a diverse number of projects in both town and country.

There was no previous website, and only a very basic logo, so we had the opportunity to establish a higher quality brand image, logo and online presence to attract higher value clients. We had to go for something modern and professional that could form the backbone of the website as well as business cards and print media. Such a logo would have a big impact on the style of the website. With a number of established happy customers, continuity and brand recognition was important to keep in mind. We had to make sure that people could still recognise Lypiatt as the same company while creating a refreshed and modern brand image.

A key part of the website would be to convey the quality of Lypiatt’s work. With a great supply of images of the projects they had completed, the website needed to display and complement their incredibly high finishing standards. With a limited online presence, Lypiatt had no clear branding on any social media channels or web properties, making it tough for customers to find and recognise them online. With an increasing interest in generating leads online, Lypiatt approached Alloy for advice and recommendations on developing the brand.

The solution

Our first task was to create a new logo and colour scheme to establish a brand identity that could provide the foundations for a modern, high impact landscape gardening business. With average job values exceeding several thousand pounds, it was vital for potential customers to associate the branding with a high quality service and results. We achieved this with a layout that put examples of their work in prime position. A simple, spacious arrangement of images with strategically placed text immediately highlights the services that they offer.

We continued the new brand colour schemes from the logo across to the new custom designed website. The primary brand fonts and colours were used alongside flat colour blocks and colourful images supplied by the client of landscaping works in-progress and completed jobs, to create a bold, widescreen website. Across all pages, the white or green sans serif text stands out against earthy shades and has the vital white space, to draw in the eye.

We recommended a projects/portfolio section to the website which we felt was vital to get across to potential customers, the quality and incredible results the company deliver. This is a feature that they can update regularly themselves, continuing to demonstrate the full range of their expertise to potential customers, in way that will also benefit the overall SEO potential of the website.
