The Challenge
We were approached by a gym and personal training business looking to revamp their digital presence with a new website. Whilst the facility had been in business for a while, their website had become outdated and disconnected from the performance of the business. This was a fantastic opportunity to bring the site in line with modern web design standards.
The new website would need to make it quicker and easier for visitors to find information about the training programmes and facilities, while also showcasing what’s on offer to inspire visitors to become members and sign up for training sessions. The site’s design would play a crucial role in establishing a strong brand identity by speaking to the expertise on offer and making a lasting impression on visitors.
The Solution
First and foremost, the site needed to be fast and responsive. Building on a modern WordPress HTML5 core ensured that the site would meet these needs, both now and in the future. As always, it was essential that the site look just as good on mobile and tablet browsers as on a desktop. Building around a responsive core and carefully previewing elements like heading and title sizes across multiple screen sizes ensured this.
With the foundations of the site in place, we could focus on the overall design. A navy and sky blue colour palette was used to match the brands existing logo, maintaining familiarity with the brand’s offline look and feel. These colours were integrated into every page of the site to create a strong and cohesive visual identity. Pop out stats and full-width tiles were used to maximise the impact of the business’ professional photography.
Selling the services
We divided the business’s key services into four: sports performance, injury rehab, strength and youth athletic training. Keeping the information organised under these headings allowed potential clients to find their most relevant service quickly, no matter where they landed on the site. Taking steps like this can help reduce the site’s bounce rate—a measure of how quickly a visitor leaves a page if they can’t easily find the information they’re looking for.
Tiled imagery was used as it provides a great way to show off that the gym was suitable for all types of people and offered many different types of training. Easy to access contact forms present at the bottom of all pages and linked to by a floating menu made it super quick for potential new clients to reach out to the business.
