The Challenge
We were approached by a professional window cleaning firm looking to completely revamp their digital presence with a new website, logo and branding. Service focussed businesses such as cleaning firms were typically slower to adapt to the changing digital market than many businesses, so this was a great opportunity for the owner to leapfrog ahead of the curve.
The site would need to make it quick and easy for visitors to find information about the service, as well as showcasing the sort of eye-catching imagery which encourages visitors to become customers. Our designers new logo and branding would also need to feature throughout the site to impress the brand identity upon visitors.
The Solution
First and foremost the site needed to be fast and responsive. Building on a modern WordPress HTML5 core provided an assurance that this would be the case, not just now but for years to come. With the majority of web traffic coming from mobile devices, it was essential that the site look just as good on mobile and tablet browsers as on a desktop – building around a responsive core and previewing things like heading/title sizes across multiple small screen sizes made sure of this.
With the foundations of the site in place, our designers’ new branding could then be rolled out. A bold red and black design was chosen and signed off by the client, which made for a punchy, attention grabbing design. These colours and the business’ new logo were built into the heart of every page on the site to make the strongest impression possible on visitors.
We divided the business’ key services into two main pages – commercial and domestic. Keeping these headings visible in a persistent upper menu allowed for customers to find their most relevant service as quickly as possible regardless of where they arrived on the site from. Taking steps such as this can help drive down the ‘bounce rate’ of a site – a measure of the time taken for a user to land on a page and leave, which is typically a very short if a visitor isn’t easilt able to find the information they are looking for.
With local, service-based businesses such as this it’s also very important for visitors to find contact information quickly and easily. We included opening hours, location information, telephone links and email contact details in the site footer so that no matter which page visitors were on they could easily get in touch. For those who didn’t want to email directly, we included the usual contact form on the contact page too.
