We were approached by a private gym firm who were looking to open their first branch at a location in central London. The brief was to create a colourful, high impact design for their website, which needed to have an aesthetic suited to attracting professional customers from the upper end of the market.
As the gym was not yet open, the site needed to provide a convenient means for interested parties to register their interest and to convey a strong brand image capable of enticing newcomers and customers from nearby gyms. The site required integration with Mindbody, the client’s chosen booking platform as well as a connection to the gym’s own app in Apple’s & Google’s stores. Being big fitness fans ourselves and having worked with many health and fitness brands, we were in a great position to help.
As you can see from the homepage, we wanted to make the site easy to navigate so that prospective customers could easily work out how to book a class or learn about pricing, while setting the tone for what the brand is all about. Whereas some gyms are all smiles when it comes to the pictures on their sites, we wanted Mindset to convey that it’s serious about what it does, while offsetting this with a bright and colourful design further down the page.
The gym’s branding used large, bright colour blocks, so our designers applied this aesthetic to the site in a tiled layout. The result was a bright, engaging design which draws in the viewer. The tiled layout enabled a smooth, responsive design which translates perfectly across all devices and screen sizes. A persistent ‘subscribe’ box in the footer allowed potential customers to keep informed of the gym’s opening times and a full width Google Maps module made sure the location was easy to find.
In order to direct new customers to the gym’s app, we installed an unobtrusive pop up in the brand colours to direct visitors from mobiles and tablets to their app store. Social channels were full integrated into the site including an active Instagram feed, pulling in new posts and proudly displaying them on the front page of the site – a great way to show off all the exciting things happening as the gym opened.
